I know this may be getting a little dull, but the drum tab website is doing wonderful! All of the artist pages have been loaded, with many of them holding tabs and traffic is beginning to show up. Various cosmetic changes are occuring almost daily but major changes will be needed fairly soon. It seems to me that drummers are in short supply and hopefully, the availibility of free tabs will help foster more interest in drumming.

The drum tabs website seems to be moving along pretty well, given that I am only spending less than an hour a day working on it. I’ve added a google search and have created most of the letter pages.  Unfortunately, the actual adding of tabs is quite time consuming, and there are few to be had.  However, don’t give up hope!  More tabs are coming and constant updating is occuring.  On a side note, I seem to be learning more about HTML and dreamweaver than about playing the drums or writing drum tab.  Anyway, I think the next article might take a look at some of the drum tab software out there. OH BOY!

Recently, I purchased a toshiba gigabeat from woot.com. The gigabeat is a 40 gig mp3 player very similar to the ipod if you are not familiar with it (I certainly wasn’t when I bought it). Unfortunately, the software provided with the gigabeat is pretty piss poor, as is some of the functionality. However, there is hope in true open source style in the form of rockbox. This is an alternate to the typical firmware but is still in development for the gigabeat. Good luck guys

After several frusterating hours, this drum tab adventure has turned into a “you don’t know anything about programming in html” adventure. My server isn’t cooperating and thus the site, which is now much improved, is unable to provide any actual tabs.  On an up note, my tracking software is working correctly showing that I have recieved a total of, count em, 3 VISITORS!  Does anyone know how to work with remote university servers?  UVA’s in particular?  I think I shall tackle the problem tomorrow since I expect no answer.

The website is moving along, tabs are being added and features dreamed about. In the short run I would like to create seperate pages for the tab archive, add a little navigation, and spice the site up a bit (its pretty boring!!). In the long run, I would love to have users enter their own drum tabs automatically and have a rating system so that well done tabs could rise to the surface.  Anyhow, that’s it for now.  MG

This is my first stab at blogging and website creation so bear with me. I’m a fairly active drummer who frequently uses drum tabs to play along with popular songs. A great resource for these tabs was www.mxtabs.com, but it has been unfortunately shut down by the sheet music industry. I’m in the process of whipping up a site that can host tab archives and allow people to submit their own tabs. Unfortunately, it’s parked on my UVA account currently but will soon change. visit site! . Ok, groovy, make comments, make suggestions, send me tabs. EXCELLENCE!!!!
